Natural diamonds mined from Earth are formed by the pressure of earth’s crust over millions of years. Pressures from earth must rise as high as 2,370 degrees Fahrenheit which will be brought to the Earth's surface by volcanic activity. A diamond is made up of carbon which is formed under the pressure of earth’s crust. Once a diamond is formed, they need to be mined, cut and polished in order to add a certain prestige to an item. Diamonds are valuable and time consuming. This is why the diamond market is expensive. It takes time for an entire industry, use of scientific method and geological resources for a diamond to be put into jewelry stores. In addition, diamonds are unique gemstones that are non-retrievable by man which adds to their value.
